The Dance of Death  By August Strindberg.

The Dance of Death by The Swedish Dramatist August Strindberg was written in 1900 and is just as relevant today as it was then. Love is always a hot subject, as is hate.

The scene is a domestic one. The players, a married couple, have been each others’ prison guards for over 25 years, their main hobby in life being to persecute each other. They live very isolated causing a mutual dependency. But when a close friend from their childhoods arrives on the scene, the festering hate component in their love/hate relationship surfaces. Their guest’s visit triggers a major catastrophy, but after the battle is waged they resign to continuing their relationship together as before, instead of breaking up and turning their backs on the destructive lives they live.

The Dance of Death is a typical Love Triangle that digs deep into the relationship between a man and a woman: the eternal power struggle, the never-ending Death Dance that most probably has existed between men and women since the beginnings of the human race. But as long as there is a struggle, a conflict, and A Dance, there is hope!
